JURGEN KLOPP AND THE NEW ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI

Jurgen Klopp hopes to find the next Robert Lewandowski in the transfer market as Liverpool boss accepts club cannot compete for established names

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says he is comfortable looking for the next Robert Lewandowski-style bargain in the transfer market rather than competing with Manchester giants United and City for established big names.
Nearly two months into the job, Klopp has begun outlining where he needs to improve the squad he inherited from Brendan Rodgers.
He has been heavily linked with Brazilian striker Pato and confirmed there is no agreement with former club Borussia Dortmund to stop him approaching them for their players.

Yet the German, 48, prides himself on signing the likes of Lewandowski from Lech Poznan rather than entering into expensive auctions for players.
‘There are so many mothers in the world that have brilliant sons, so you don’t always have to take the guys that everybody knows,’ he joked.
‘In my opinion, it would make sense if you only think about players you can get. If you want to battle with the city (points towards Manchester), we can pay 100, they can pay 120, it’s a crazy market.

'We only want to do something in January if we feel it is necessary or there is an opportunity where we cannot say no.’
After the 4-1 win at City, a Klopp feel good factor is sure to be evident at home to Swansea on Suday.
And he could have captain Jordan Henderson available at last after a foot injury.
